Methodology
We identified 5 real, independent, well-reviewed businesses in each of 10 Vancouver industries — restaurants/cafes, dentists, plumbers/HVAC, lawyers, salons/spas, auto repair, real estate agents, fitness studios, accountants/bookkeepers, and contractors/renovators — 50 businesses total. No chains or national franchises.
Each business's actual homepage (and /llms.txt, where present) was checked against the same 4-check framework used throughout this site: an AI-readable business summary (llms.txt or schema.org structured data), machine-findable contact info (a real tel: link or structured contact data, not just visible text), page layout stability, and an AI-actionable booking action (structured booking markup, not just a phone number).
The layout-stability check is not included in this report's published numbers. It requires a real browser (Lighthouse) to measure honestly. The automated, at-scale method used here produced contradictory results across two independent batches of this study — passing 100% of sites in one batch and failing 100% in another — which is the signature of a tooling artifact, not a real finding. Rather than publish a number we don't trust, we're publishing the methodology limitation instead.
No individual business is named as failing. Results are reported in aggregate and by industry only, consistent with the rest of this project.
